In what can only be called as total disregard to the promotion and development of hockey, the Malaysian Hockey Confederation has decided to make a mockery of the inaugural Women's Hockey League by holding it over a three week period.Clubs were fuming on what was deemed as high handedness by the MHC Competition Committee who pushed the fixtures down their throats, pushing aside anything that was raised.
The Terengganu representative requested that teams play on an home and away basis so as to promote hockey amongst the states, but that too was brushed aside as they were told that MHC had direct communication with the Mentri Besar and could resolve the matter at a higher level.
The Womens League will commence on March 22 with matches played on Thursday and Saturday and will end on April 12, hardly called a league.
If that was not bad enough, the Men's Division One meeting was a comedy of sorts as the issue of national juniors assistant coaches Mohd Amin Rahim and Jivan Mohan playing in the league was raised.
Jivan will represent Terengganu HC while Amin Tenaga Nasional Berhad.
In a curt reply, MHC Secretary told the two teams," The players must decide if they want to coach or play."
But when Terengganu questioned if a letter of appointment was issued, Johari said," That's our decision. A letter will ge issued by MSN. This is final."
One must remember that the MHC Executive Board had endorsed the appointments of Amin and Jivan at its February 11 meeting, yet a month later the duo have yet to receive their appointment letters.
