Sapura edged Maybank 2-1 to take thid spot in the TNBMHL TNB Cup at the national Hockey stadium in Bukit Jalil tonight. The win assured Sapura of RM40,000 as prize money with the Tigers taking home RM30,000.
Sapura opened scoring through Khasif Ali in the 33rd minute but he must be kicking himself for squandering six other penalty corners as that would have given him a good chance to bag the top goal scorers title. Khasif has now scored 18 goals with TNB's Faisal Saari on 17 with a game in hand.
Maybank equalised at the stroke of halftime via Shafqat Rassol but Sapura edged home with Izwan Firdaus Ahmad Tajuddin netting the winner in the 49th minute.
