Tenaga Nasional Berhad used the oldest trick in the book, that ace striker Faisal Saari was doubtful for their quarterfinal tie against Terengganu HT in the TNB Cup.But Faisal showed no effects of the injury to score two goals to give TNB a slight 3-2 edge in the match at the National Hockey stadium. Infact the two goals has now put him within a goal of the leading scorers, Mohd Noor Faeez Ibrahim (UniKL) and Khasif Ali ( Sapura).
It was Terengganu that took the lead through Mohd Ameerullah Aziz in the 24th minute. And by that time TNB had squandered four penalty corners, in the 17th, 18th, 20th and 21st minutes. Thus it came as no surprise that the East Coast side took the lead.
TNB and Faisal finally got their act right a minute before halftime as Faisal fired home their sixth penalty corner of the match.
Mohd Azammi Abadi put TNB 2-1 ahead in the 47th minute before faisal slotted home in the 60th minute to give them 3-1 lead. However Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin Tg Jalil gave Terengganu some hope in the second leg scoring their second a minute later.
In the President Cup quarterfinal, MBI defeated Uniten KPT 3-2.
The Ipoh side took a 2-0 lead through Mohd Haris Fadila Zulkifli (3rd minute), and Syed Syafiq Syed Cholan ( 13th minute). But Uniten pulled a goal back in the 35th minute Razlee Amree Mustafar.
MBI pulled ahead 3-1 through the efforts of Arshad Repikh Ali in the 57th minute only for Ahmad Termidzi Ismail to reduce the deficit in the 62nd minute for a final score of 3-2 in favour of the Ipoh side.
